This is a stunning villa built in 1998 to the owners’ specification. The design is based on a "Martello" tower visible from the rear elevation. The garden runs down to the second green of the Alto Golf Course the villa is called Casa das Videiras as it is on the site of a former vineyard. The property enjoys lush green rear views all year round, across the course, all the way to Lagos Bay. The nearest town is Alvor which has managed to retain its fishing village character unlike many of its easterly neighbours.
The villa is about half a kilometre from the coast and has pleasant sea views: from side towards Prainha and from the upstairs bedroom, Praia de Rocha (beach) and headland with its arches and stacks. “Praia” means beach in Portuguese. The villa is very well situated for excursions to any part of the Algarve coast in the south as well as to the more dramatic west coast with its often empty, expansive beaches a few of which have breakers good enough to attract serious surfers from around the world.
The villa’s precise position means there is no passing traffic but it is not isolated. It is managed and serviced by the Alto Club on behalf of the owners and it also benefits from their regular night-time security patrol. The house is also fitted with an integral burglar alarm. It is situated on a quiet, private, made-up road at the end in a cul-de-sac.
